Thank you to all of our Students, Teachers, Staff, Parents, Guardians and community members for your continued support, involvement, and understanding over the past month as we have adjusted to the difficulties of school closure due to COVID-19. Today, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that all schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Therefore, we wanted to provide you with the following updates:
Many Students still have personal items at school. We will be announcing a time for families to come in to retrieve these items.
Learning Opportunities will continue to be provided by Teachers through online and other methods. PLEASE be sure students are checking emails and virtual classrooms daily for communications from teachers, and assure that your students are doing the same (Grades 5-12). Feel free to reach out to your teachers via email if you have questions or need assistance
The Jr./Sr. Prom, which was scheduled for April 25th has been cancelled. Plans for Post Prom will be determined by the Post Prom Committee.
Graduation is postponed. We are looking at dates in June and will make a decision after we receive more guidance on allowable gatherings from the state. At this point we are hoping to have a ceremony. Jostens is working with schools on a template for a very special Virtual Graduation for our seniors as a last resort!
Spring Sports have been cancelled by the IHSAA &IGHSAA. A decision on Summer Sports will be made by the state on or before June 1st.
Driver’s Education at Graettinger-Terril we will be moving to Online education. Mrs. Fredericksen will be putting together a schedule for online learning and be communicating it to students and parents next week.
Music Fundraiser: Please either drop off or mail ButterBraid and Coffee orders and money to Miranda DePyper no later than April 20th. (GTRA Music Boosters, c/o Miranda DePyper, 2898 425th Ave., Graettinger, IA 51342). Please make sure you have phone numbers and addresses for ALL customers! Orders will be delivered by the booster club upon arrival. If you have any questions or concerns, please either call Miranda or email the booster club: gtramusic@gmail.com. If you have already returned money to customers, that is OK. We will have this same fundraiser next year!
Grade Advancement - All parents and students naturally have concerns about how this unprecedented closure will affect their students advancement to the next grade level. Rest assured that the closure will not impede students from graduating or advancing to the next grade level.
An Early Start Date for Fall has been authorized by the Governor. We will be discussing options for that in the coming weeks and will provide information when we have it available.
Thanks again for your patience and cooperation during this very difficult time. We will continue to provide updates as needed in the coming weeks.
